December marked the completion of our Community and School Sheer SKILL programmes for 2018. This year's programme was a huge success as over 50 teenagers from across Belfast received their portfolios of achievements.
The School group sessions took place during Wednesday afternoons at Loughside Recreation Centre whilst the Community sessions were on the same evening at Shaftesbury Community & Recreation Centre.
The programmes began back in October when we brought the young leaders to the Belfast Activity Centre. The afternoon consisted of activities such as caving, climbing and archery as the new faces began interact and get to get to know each other!
Since then both groups have received many worthwhile qualifications: - Sports Leaders UK Level 1 - BCSDN Multi-sports - Cricket Ireland Fundamentals - British Heart Foundation - Heart Start - DSNI - Disability Sport and Inclusive Games
To celebrate, the participants hosted a multi-sports session for St Marys Star of the Sea Primary School. The primary school teachers and BCSDN Facilitators were very impressed with the manner in which the young leaders led the session as they were full of enthusiasm and catered for all levels!
Thanks to the schools involved (Rathmore Grammar, St. Louises College, Trinity College, Belfast Boys Model & Hazelwood Integrated College), Cricket Ireland, DSNI, Belfast Activity Centre and The Signature Works for their contribution.
SPECIAL THANKS TO NI EXECUTIVE: TBUC FOR MAKING THIS PROGRAMME POSSIBLE!
