Our four Sport4Development Hubs projects funded by the Big Lottery Fund NI have been taking place over the past couple of weeks in Armoy, Ballyclare, Larne and Maghera! Here is a quick insight and a few photos of what's been going on so far in each location:
We have been in St. Oclan's and Armoy Primary school's. They are taking part in our Fundamental Fitness Programme. It focuses on promoting a healthy lifestyle by teaching the kids easy ways to exercise and eating healthy foods. Our own Jonathan Quigley has been in frequent contact with the Armoy Senior's Group at the Community Association. We have been using fun games such as BOCCIA ball to get to know the local residents. Finally, pupils from Ballycastle High School have been taking part in the young leadership programme, providing them with the tools to go out and deliver sessions to community groups themselves!
In Fairview Primary School in Ballyclare we are working with the Primary 3's. The aim is not only to provide physical activity but to promote and reinforce nutritional messages to participants to further their understanding around health through various games and sports which include educational messages.
We have been working in Larne High School. The pupils here have been engaging in DSNI Inclusion Training as part of their Sheer Skill Programme! Elsewhere, we have been delivering a Functional Fitness programme with Linn and St. Macnissi's Primary Schools!
Maghera and Glenview Primary School's have been at the centre of our Maghera project so far! Similar to our other Primary School Hubs the focus has been on fundamental fitness games!
We are extremely looking forward to the next few weeks and beyond working at our S4D Hubs! Follow our Social Media platforms for regular updates from each location!
Thanks again to National Lottery players for making these projects possible! #BigLotteryFundNI #Sport4Development
